DESCRIPTION:Rooster Fest 2021\nRooster Fest was an idea sparked by the Red Dirt Roosters and the Silver Spur Resort of Canton\, TX as a way to showcase the premier talent of East Texas in the wake of the recent pandemic as well as join together as a community and give a little back as well. This festival will be unlike anything East Texas has seen with a huge lineup of East Texas musicians\, a wide range of activities\, and fun for the whole family to enjoy! \n\n5K Walk/Run for Charity\nWe mentioned giving back as well…The Rooster Family has HUGE hearts. They have to\, because their littlest rooster Logan\, son of Red Dirt Roosters banjo player Jordan\, was only born with half a heart. So they want to give back to an organization that has made tremendous efforts into the research of the different congenital heart diseases that affect so many children. Not only are we donating 10% of the festival proceeds to the Children’s Heart Foundation\, but we are also holding a 5k heart walk/run the morning of August 7th at 9 am with 100% of the proceeds of the race going to the Children’s Heart Foundation and medals and prizes for the winners of each respective category of entry. Registration for the 5k race will begin at 8 am and registration is $20. Or maybe you are just looking for a fun and friendly competition for a GREAT cause! We have the event for you…Register for Silver Spur Resort’s BBQ Smoke-Off at Rooster Fest 2021\, an IBCA sanctioned event August 6th & 7th! For official rules\, visit IBCABBQ.org. \nAdult Cook-off\nThe entry fee is $150 and includes THREE CATEGORIES: Brisket\, Chicken Halves & Pork Spare Ribs with an 80% Payout to the top five winners and 20% donated to The Children’s Heart Foundation. An optional add-on includes Burnt Ends\, Beans & Bloody Mary for an additional $25 (one winner per category). Trophies will be awarded to winners at the conclusion of the BBQ Smoke-off Saturday. See the schedule of turn-in times listed below. \nEntries include the use of resort amenities…fishing in a stocked pond\, outdoor games\, and more! Golf carts are welcome. BBQ entry fee includes 4 tickets to Rooster Fest 2021.  \nWeekend Music Festival\nThere is SO much more than a smoke-off planned that weekend! The BBQ competition is part of a larger weekend music festival called Rooster Fest 2021\, here at Silver Spur Resort. Weekend festivities include a 5k walk/run for charity\, music Friday evening and all-day Saturday\, tons of planned activities\, a beer garden\, food\, vendors & more! BBQ participants will receive 4 tickets to Rooster Fest. To purchase additional tickets\, please visit our Rooster Fest event page. \nKids Cook-off\nLet the kids test their skills\, too! Friday\, August 6th\, we’ll have a Kids Porkchop Cook-Off for $15 with a 100% payout! \nDetails\nPorkchop turn-in will be 8:00 pm on Friday night. Porkchops can be smoked\, grilled\, etc but MUST be cooked on wood. Judging will be based on taste\, smell\, and look.
