Happy Fall Y’all!
The weather is cooling, pumpkin spice is everywhere, and the holidays are right around the corner. This is the time of year where memories are made. When everything is magical in the eyes of a child and even the smallest of moments can leave a lasting impression. It is our favorite time of the year to spend with our families, from enjoying local activities in the Canton community to participating in fun new traditions that create happy memories.
So to celebrate our favorite time of year, we’ve put together a list of family-friendly fall activities for you to enjoy, right here at Silver Spur Resort!
Festival of Frights
Is there anything better than Halloween? From the excitement of kids choosing that perfect costume to the fun of family traditions, Halloween is one of our favorite holidays!
We know the night can get a little crazy when the kids are bursting with excitement, and all they can think about is candy, candy, and more candy! Parents want to enjoy the night with their family but without a lot of hassle and running around. That’s why our team has put together a spooktacular evening of fun for the entire family at Silver Spur Resort.
This free event (oh yes, we said FREE!) has activities that range from traditional lawn games like potato sack races, cornhole, lawn darts, and giant bowling to kid-approved activities like rock painting, face painting, washable tattoos, and a cupcake walk! Have a spooky time in our haunted maze, create photo booth memories, and enjoy hayrides around our KOA campground, where trick-or-treating will take place.
Enjoy the convenience of our on-site restaurant, the Q & Brew, where we serve delicious BBQ menu items and a popular kids menu. And when mom & dad need a break from the festivities, we have a great line-up of craft beer on tap and assortment of Red 55 wines.

Try something you’ve never done before and visit Canton’s escape room, located right here at the Silver Spur Resort. Choose to save the world from certain Apocalypse, or escape the cave walls as a Treasure Hunter! Our escape rooms are designed to fully immerse players into the game while creating tons of fun memories for your group.
Pay to be “locked” in a room for an hour? We say, “yes please!” Especially when adults pay the kids price for an entire week! To celebrate Halloween AND the one-year anniversary of The Escape Room’s opening, EVERYONE plays for the kid’s price of just $15 from October 24th through October 31st! Murder Mystery Dinner
Forgive us, this one is just for the adults. Drop the kids off at grandmas, or line up their favorite babysitter, mom & dad are going out! Join us for a killer dinner theater experience…staring YOU! This is an interactive murder mystery experience, much like a live game of clue. We welcome everyone to join, from those ready to play a lead role in the night, to guests who just want dinner and a “show”.
Our team is excited to announce that we will regularly host murder mystery dinners in 2020, but November 17th is the LAST game planned for this year. Hurry, we only have room for 15 character roles! Get all the details and book your ticket(s) here.
BBQ Cook-Off
80% Payout. $2000 added money. FREE campsite. Did we grab your attention? BBQ enthusiasts, this one is for you! Show off your smokin’ skills and register for our IBCA sanctioned Smoke-Off taking place on November 22nd & 23rd right here at Silver Spur Resort. Kids have their own chance to win, with a pork chop cook-off and 100% payout. “One Mind, One Band, One Goal Playing Texas Music with Soul”. You won’t want to miss our headliner, Wesley Pruitt Band, performing Saturday night right here in The Barn from 7:00 pm- 10:00 pm. What makes the night even sweeter? It also happens to be Wesley Pruitt Jr.’s Birthday! Join the celebration at this Birthday Bash Concert…its going to be an AMAZING night!
Get excited! She is described as having “…a voice straight from heaven”, and we couldn’t agree more! We are SO proud to welcome Billie Jo Music to Silver Spur Resort on November 23rd from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm inside The Barn. Arrive early and stay all day! You won’t want to miss ANY of the performances planned during Fall Fest!
Bring the Whole Family!
This event is fun for the entire family! We’ll have live music going from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm, multiple bounce houses, fishing, scavenger hunts, lawn games, Punkin’ Chunk’n contest, & More! Plus a beer garden, wine tasting, and yummy food from our Q & Brew Restaurant. The resort will be busy with so much going on, so you may even think about renting a cozy cabin or RV spot at our onsite KOA and make a weekend of it!
General Admission tickets are $10 per person and $5 for kids under 12. Tickets will be available for purchase online starting October 23rd, or you can buy them at the Resort upon arrival on November 23rd. Follow our Facebook event page for lots more details to come!
First Monday Trade Days
Ok, this isn’t Fall specific, but we wanted to remind you of two HUGE markets coming up in November & December! This is your last chance to get that Christmas shopping done at the oldest and longest-running flea market in the United States. Our team loves shopping at First Monday Trade Days for ourselves and for the Resort! We always find the greatest treasures and love getting to know local small business owners. If you need a last-minute place to stay, we may have a handful of spots available. You can make a reservation online at our new Canton KOA website or call us at 903-420-1400 to get on the waitlist if we fill up. Make sure to check our event calendar to see what is going on ‘round here during your stay. We want to be the place where memories are made, therefore, our team organizes extra-special activities for the whole family during your stay First Monday weekends. Chuckwagon Experience
Bonus event…You heard it here first! Our team will start organizing Chuckwagon dinners after the New Year! What is a Chuckwagon dinner you say? Imagine this: The chow bell rings you and your fellow pioneers are invited to sit inside our climate-controlled barn for a western-style chuckwagon dinner reminiscent of one served around a campfire over a century ago. Grab a tin plate and head through the chuckwagon where you’ll be served tender BBQ chicken and baby back ribs, baked potato, cowboy beans, luscious flying biscuits, and coleslaw…with a side of entertainment.
