NRA’s Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) provides a fun environment for kids 18 and under to improve their hunting, marksmanship and safety skills.
Date: Wednesday, June 26th
Schedule:
1:00pm-4:00pm: Open questions and open archery practice/instruction. Sponsored by NWTF (FREE to public)
5:00pm-8:00pm: YHEC Competition ($10 registration fee) Great prizes and raffles!
Ages:
We will have two age groups that will be competing:
Ages 9 – 13
Ages 14 – 18
All competition skills will be graded on a point system for correct answers/archery scores.
The cumulative competition skills will be:
Hunter Safety Trail- Demonstrate your skills in safe firearm handling, fence safety shoot/don’t shoot, zones of fire and more.
Wildlife Identification– Test your knowledge of animals identification through flash cards, pictures, mounts and more.
Archery- Participants will shoot at targets at short distance and long distances to achieve a cumulative score.
Our Outdoor Adventure Camp may cover some of these skills and campers are encouraged to register for the competition! We can’t give too much away yet, but there will be some amazing raffles and prizes for each age group of the competition!

The practice and instruction from 1-4pm is free and open to the public. There is no registration required.
