Smoke & Guns Cook-Off: A Fundraiser for the Van Zandt First Responders Fund

Smoke & Guns Cook-Off May 5th & 6th at Silver Spur Resort

 

Calling all BBQ enthusiasts! Do you consider yourself the BEST Pitmaster in town? Have SMOKIN’ BBQ skills that can’t be beaten? Or maybe you are just looking for a fun and friendly competition for a GREAT cause! We have the perfect event for you…Register for Silver Spur Resort’s Smoke & Guns Cook-Off, an Outlaw BBQ Association-sanctioned event on May 5th & 6th! For official rules, visit outlawbbq.org.

Adult Cook-off

The entry fee is $150 and includes THREE CATEGORIES: Brisket, 1/2 Chicken & Pork Spare Ribs with an 80% Payout and 20% donated to the Van Zandt First Responders Fund. Optional add-ons include Burnt Ends, Beans & Bloody Mary for an additional $25 each (one winner per category). Trophies will be awarded to winners at the conclusion of the BBQ Smoke-off on Saturday, inside The Barn. See the schedule of turn-in times listed below.

The entry fee includes a parking spot with no water/electricity. Full hookup RV sites are available for an additional fee. Call 903-420-1400 to inquire about lodging or RV sites. Golf carts are welcome. Additional fundraising activities will be held during the cook-off.

Cook-Off Turn-In & Judging

Meats to be cooked:
Half Chicken 2 Fully Jointed Chicken Halves (Complete with wing, breast, thigh, and leg.)
Pork Spare Ribs (Required: 9 Individual Pork Spare Ribs)
Brisket (Required: 9 Full Slices)

Turn-in and judging will take place in the climate-controlled Barn.

Friday, May 5th: 

5:00 pm- Tray Pickups Begin

6:00 pm- Cooks Meeting in Stagecoach Hall

Saturday, May 6th:

11:00 am- Bloody Mary

12:00 pm- Beans

1:00 pm- Chicken

2:00 pm- Ribs

3:00 pm- Brisket

3:30 pm- Burnt Ends

7:00 pm- Awards
